Please describe your volunteer experience at YP Impact’s event at SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) on Saturday, February 27.
The SHARE volunteer experience was incredibly rewarding because I connected with amazing people, provided community support and left with a renewed sense of purpose.  In addition, we learned about the mission of SHARE and how the organization is completely managed by volunteers, which is amazing! 

Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer because I believe that everyone can contribute to a cause.  Every YP Impact volunteer event that I have attended has left me inspired and has renewed my belief that there is always a little more that I can do to give back to my community.  The individuals that I meet become lasting connections and just a couple hours of my time helps those in need.

Best volunteering memory?
Participating in Milwaukee’s Make-A-Difference Day on November 7, 2009 was extremely moving.  The program volunteers assisted older adults to prepare for winter by raking leaves, washing windows and other small projects.  At the beginning of the day, we all gathered for breakfast and to listen to motivational stories.  There was an amazing feeling of unity, knowing that so many people were rallied together to support the community. 

What benefits do you enjoy the most about YP Impact?
I enjoy the well organized networking and volunteer events. There is always a positive energy at the programs and it’s a very welcoming group!

What makes YP Impact unique?
The members and board directors are so supportive because they go out of their way to connect you with others.  This is advanced networking!  YP Impact is also a great size.  The events are large enough where you always meet new people but small enough where you can find a familiar face. 

Why do you think young professionals should get involved in YP Impact?
I believe there are many young professionals who want to volunteer, enhance their careers and build their networks.  YP Impact does the work for you!  Just attend an event and you will witness the benefits of being involved!  I’ve been able to make new friends through networking and volunteering, which has enriched my life and resources both personally and professionally.
