Shelly Bertholf, YP Impact volunteer events committee chair, was featured in this interview on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee.
By Jordan Lee
This morning, Jordan invited YP Impact volunteer coordinator Shelly Bertholf into the studios to tell us about her newest philanthropic endeavor.
Inspired by a friend serving in Afghanistan who lamented about not having access to stamps to reply to letters from home, Michelle’s latest initiative is an opportunity for the Milwaukee area to support the men and women fighting overseas. She requested donations of non-perishable food, books, hygiene products, heat resistant candy, travel-sized board games, stationary products, and other ordinary everyday luxuries we enjoy. The items were turned into handmade care packages and shipped by the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center to Kandahar, Afghanistan, one of the most dangerous war zones.
This was no easy task for one woman to accomplish, but Michelle was able to get together an impressive list of goodies. Including books, DVDs, CDs, guitars and even hand written letters and pictures.
